Shelley can only think of one thing better than reporting the news, and that is covering stories in her hometown. Lucky for her, she gets to do that everyday at ABC24. Shelley grew up in East Memphis with her identical twin sister Ashley. She was born 40 seconds before her sister, and that must be why she can't resist the thrill of being first on the scene. However, in order to be the best at delivering the news first, Shelley had some learning to do.
After graduating from Houston High School, Shelley earned her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Washington and Lee University in beautiful Lexington, Virginia. From there she relocated to Texas where she wrote for the Austin Business Journal. A few short years later, Shelley found herself reporting in West Virginia where she covered the deadly mine explosion at the Upper Big Branch in April 2010. Now she is excited to be back home, where she can eat the best BBQ in the country and never miss a Tigers game.
Shelley joined ABC24 in mid-April 2011, just before the Mississippi River's record flooding. Talk about getting your feet wet on a new job! Shelley's your local Mississippi reporter, covering DeSoto County and beyond. If you see her out and about please introduce yourself and say "Hi!"
