MEMPHIS WEATHER--It's a cold start to our day in the Mid-South! Clouds will continue to stream into the area from the southwest through the day. Temperatures will only climb into the lower 40's this afternoon under a cloudy sky. Moisture will be slow to return to the Mid-South this afternoon. Therefore, the area will stay mostly dry today. Temperatures will drop below freezing in most areas tonight. Meanwhile, rain will begin to move into the Mid-South and will bring the threat for freezing rain and sleet along and northwest of I-40. Northeast Arkansas has the greatest risk of wintry weather into early Thursday morning. Accumulations of any ice are expected to be very light. Winter Storm Watches are in effect just outside of our viewing area, but it is possible that advisories will be issued later today. Bottom line, isolated slick spots on roadways are possible early Thursday morning. By late morning, temperatures will warm above freezing and the wintry threat will end. A cold rain will fall across the area Thursday afternoon and evening. Drier and milder air will return by Friday and will hang around through the weekend.
