An Ice Storm Warning is in effect until 6AM Wednesday due to more freezing rain moving into Memphis beginning midday today.  This round will pose much more of a problem than yesterday when we received only a few hundredths of an inch.  Today's system will bring rainfall amounts closer to .25" which will make for treacherous driving conditions area wide, not just bridges and overpasses.  It will begin as sleet and freezing rain creeping north into Mississippi late morning and then into west Tennessee around lunch time.  For Memphis, the bulk of the freezing rain will occur early to mid afternoon through 5pm.  To be clear, I am forecasting that is begins before mid-afternoon, but those will be the core hours when rain is falling.  There is a slight chance we get above freezing today which would provide some melting, but chances are slim, high 32.

Please use your common sense when hitting the roads this afternoon and stay safe.

Fortunately, tomorrow will bring sunshine and temperatures in the 40s so conditions will improve quickly.
