MEMPHIS, TN--Happy first day of winter everyone! It will be another cold night ahead with overnight lows dropping below freezing. Mid to upper 20's will be likely in outlying areas. Southerly winds will return tomorrow morning and help the Mid-South to quickly warm up. It will certainly be a cold start to the day, but highs tomorrow will be able to climb into the mid 50's! Sunday will be even warmer, but a chance of rain returns to the forecast Sunday night and early Monday. Any rain from this system will be light. Highs on Sunday will try to hit 60 degrees.
Looking ahead towards Christmas...
Weather models are beginning to show a similar storm track on each run. Scattered showers will be possible early on Christmas Eve, but it looks like the Mid-South will get a decent break in the wet weather for Monday night and Tuesday morning. Showers will slide back into the Mid-South with rounds of heavy rain possible Christmas night and overnight. Meanwhile, colder air will start making an arrival (especially into the area along and north of I-40). There is a small window early Wednesday morning for a rain/snow mix as temperatures begin to drop. Drier air will work in quickly and Wednesday night will be dry and very cold.
Please be careful in all of your travels during the Christmas holiday. Have a great weekend everyone! :)
