Memphis--The Mid-South remains in an active weather pattern, but will take a break from the wet weather on Friday.  Sunshine and a southerly breeze will bring temperatures into the upper 60s and low 70s Friday.  Enjoy Friday because our winter break will only last through Saturday before colder weather returns to region.  The next weather system to affect the Mid-South will be stubbornly slow.  Winds from the ground through high in the atmosphere will all be moving the same direction, SW to NE, resulting in a prolonged period of heavy rain this weekend.  Weather models are indicating that another 3 to 6 inches of rain is likely through early next week.  The Mid-South has already seen 2 to 3 inches this week.  Colder air will arrive Sunday setting the stage for possibly some freezing rain or sleet for our northern counties Sunday night and Monday night.  Colder weather will last much of next week.
