Memphis’ own Amro Music, a 90-year-old family business, has been recognized nationally by the National Association of Music Merchants for its contributions to music advocacy and for its superior merchandising and displays. Amro was also a runner-up for the Top 100 Dealer Award.

"We're extremely honored by these awards. Our team members work really hard and have a huge passion for music that they display every day when they help customers. This is a huge win for them,” said CJ Averwater, Amro’s general manager.

Amro was awarded the Support Music Local Advocacy Award for the organization’s continued support of local music and music advocacy. An example is a regular workshop for music education majors and first-year teachers that covers such topics as student recruiting and retention, classroom management, school budgets, and more.

The store also won the category of Best Merchandising & Display. To make the stores visitor-friendly, Amro Music breaks its sales floors into easy-to-find sections, each featuring touch-screen monitors where shoppers can learn more about the products on display.

Amro was a runner-up for the overall Top 100 Dealer. “Out of 100 other music stores,” said Averwater, "being among the top three is a great tribute to the hard work and dedication that our associates put in every single day."
