If you have a Memphis Public Library card, you can learn more than 35 different foreign languages for free. Thanks to a gift from the Memphis Library Foundation, Mango Language Learning is now available through the library’s website.
Mango is an easy and effective system that teaches real conversation skills for practical communication. It provides step by step lesson plans along with a text translator. Library cardholders can log in from home, work, or anywhere else to begin their lessons.
The interactive language program provides cardholders with access to beginner courses which require only two to five hours of time to complete. For more intensive learning, there is a 100-lesson option designed to provide a full understanding of an entire language and its culture.
The courses are available for Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Arabic, Farsi, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Irish, and more. There are also several options available for learning English as a second language.
