Free, one-hour art enrichment workshops for children ages 12 and under designed to teach lessons of the civil rights movement using themes of diversity, peace and equality. Led byAdrian Maclin, museum guide and educator. Youth group reservations recommended. Does not include museum tour. Thursday, JULY 5:
First Thursday Film Series: “Car Wash” (1976, Rated PG), 6:00pm.
A close-knit group of African American employees have a variety of strange visitors come to their place of work in one day. (97 min.) Discussion host Barbara Andrews, NCRM Director of Education & Interpretation. This film series complements the “For All the World to See” temporary exhibit currently showing at the museum. Each film reflects the various themes of the exhibit such as mainstream ideals, relentless whiteness, the status quo, etc., and is followed by discussion. Free to the public.
