Amnesty Dumpster Day, sponsored by the City of Germantown and the Germantown Environmental Commission, will be held Saturday, September 15, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Materials will be collected at the Public Services Complex, 7700 Southern Avenue; and Johnson Road Park, 2950 Johnson Road. Proof of residency will be required, such as your water bill.

Amnesty Dumpster Day gives residents a chance to get rid of unwanted bulky items not picked up by sanitation service providers. Acceptable items include building materials, fencing or wire, steel poles, tires (without rims, limit four), concrete, dirt, rocks, lawn mowers, bikes and grills. Old recycling bins and trash cans will also be accepted for recycling. These items can be taken to either location.

At the Johnson Road Park location only, Shred-it will destroy up to three banker's boxes per household of personal documents. Residents can observe the documents being shredded. TheCyberYard.com, Inc. will also be at the Johnson Road Park location accepting computers, copy and fax machines, stereos and other electronic equipment. Please no more than one monitor or television per household. By breaking these items into their components, the company enables disposal other than at a landfill.

Do not bring hazardous waste such as paint, medical items, chemicals, etc. Items considered hazardous waste will not be accepted. No business or commercial material will be accepted.
