NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Two people were wounded in a shooting at Tennessee State University during homecoming festivities.

According to a news release from Nashville police, a single bullet passed through the arm of 19-year-old Lorenzo Vaughn and then struck 18-year-old Eric Gray in the back.

The Saturday shooting took place on the street just outside the campus at about noon.

Hundreds of people were in the area for the homecoming. The streets were closed and the atmosphere was that of a large block party.

Vaughn and Gray told officers they heard people arguing before the shooting. They do not believe they were being targeted.

The parade was one of several events on campus leading up to a game between the Tigers the University of Tennessee, Martin, at Nashville's LP Field.
