LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - Federal prosecutors say a former east Arkansas police officer indicted on drug-trafficking charges has pleaded guilty to an extortion charge.

In exchange for a guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop multiple charges against former Helena-West Helena police officer Robert "Bam Bam" Rogers.

Rogers was one of five law enforcement officers arrested in a corruption and drug trafficking investigation in eastern Arkansas. Seventy people were indicted as part of the probe, which authorities called "Operation Delta Blues."

A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled, though prosecutors say Thursday they're recommended a 16-month sentence.

Also pleading guilty this week were Neteisha Barefield, who admitted to a firearms charge, and Dempsey Word, who pleaded guilty to a drug charge.

Attorneys for Rogers and Barefield didn't return messages. Word's lawyer declined to comment.
