JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has signed three new education laws and one designed to give recognition to military veterans.
Senate Bill 2461 became law when Bryant signed it Wednesday. It allows any honorably discharged veteran to have a driver's license marked with a tiny American flag and the word VET.
The three education bills become law July 1.
Senate Bill 2776 creates a ratings system that gives each school and school district a letter grade like a report card - A, B, C, D or F.
House Bill 1031 requires each student to be screened for dyslexia in kindergarten or 1st grade. It also allows public or private school choice for dyslexic students.
House Bill 1032 creates a college scholarship program for people who want to study dyslexia therapy.
