FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - Investigators in northwest Arkansas were working to determine whether a device strapped to a 73-year-old woman who says she was forced to try to rob a bank was a bomb.

Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout said Tuesday that nothing was detonated after a bomb squad removed the device from Betty Davis's leg.

But authorities have not yet released the bomb squad's conclusion.

Davis told police a man was holding her and her husband, Herbert Davis, captive in their home, and that the man forced her to try to rob a bank Monday. Once at the bank, Davis told employees about the potential bomb and authorities evacuated the building.

Sheriff's deputies found her husband tied up, but unharmed.

Authorities are searching for the man who held the Davises captive.
