PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - State Sen. Stephanie Flowers has defeated Rep. Efrem Elliott in the Democratic primary for the Arkansas Senate District 25 seat.

Flowers of Pine Bluff has served in the Legislature since 2005. Elliott has served in the House since 2011.

The primary effectively decides the race because there isn't a Republican is running in the fall for the seat.

It's one of 11 contested Senate primaries across the state. There are 22 contested House primaries.

With no major statewide primary and already settled presidential primaries, these local races have dominated the airwaves and attention of voters.
