NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - Former Congressman Lincoln Davis has filed a federal class-action lawsuit asking Tennessee officials to restore the voting rights of citizens who were wrongfully purged from the list of eligible voters.
The suit, which was filed Monday in a Nashville federal court, comes after Davis was refused the right to vote on Super Tuesday in his local precinct in Pall Mall, Tenn., where he had voted since 1995.
The former congressman was turned away after being told that his name no longer appeared on the voter rolls.
The state Department of Elections apologized the next day after Davis was turned away.
Davis, a Democrat, served in Congress from 2002 till 2011.
