LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - State Rep. Keith Ingram has defeated state Sen. Jack Crumbly in the Democratic primary for an east Arkansas seat that is the focus of a federal redistricting lawsuit.

Ingram defeated Crumbly in Tuesday's Democratic primary for Senate District 24.

Crumbly and a group of residents in his district sued the state Board of Apportionment and claimed the panel intentionally lowered the black vote to help Ingram. Crumbly is black, and Ingram is white.

Three federal judges denied an attempt to postpone Tuesday's primary while they consider Crumbly's lawsuit. No Republican is running for the seat.
