LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police say an officer investigating a reported shoplifting at a convenience store was injured when the suspect struck her with his car.

Sgt. Cassandra Davis says Officer Linda Allen is hospitalized with a concussion after being knocked to the parking lot by the open door of the car the man was driving about noon Monday.

Davis says other officers later found the car unoccupied at another convenience and found the suspect inside that store with a knife and demanding beer and cigarettes. The officers arrested the man identified as 34-year-old Donovan Fulton on felony charges of first-degree battery and robbery and misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated and driving on a suspended driver's license.

Police did not know if Fulton had an attorney.
