LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - A man who was convinced his grandfather was molesting young family members is to serve life in prison for killing the man and mutilating his corpse.
A Pulaski County jury on Wednesday found 25-year-old Sean Fincham guilty of first-degree murder, despite his lawyer's contention that the slaying constituted the lesser charge of manslaughter. Prosecutor Larry Jegley says jurors also convicted Fincham of abuse of a corpse.
Fincham testified Tuesday that he took a hammer away from 65-year-old Dennie Gregory when the two were arguing in January 2011 and hit him with it. Fincham said his memory blurred after that until he found himself standing in blood with his grandfather dead on the floor.
Fincham's attorney said Gregory also sexually abused Fincham as a child.
