OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) — A plan to bring a second movie theater to Olive Branch will go to aldermen Feb. 19 with the city Planning Commission's affirmative recommendation.
The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/VU3wHZ ) commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to rezone for commercial use the site being eyed by a movie theater developer.
Several residents spoke against the site plan, arguing that while commercial use may be appropriate for the 8.28-acre site, a movie theater operation was not.
Cinema Group Inc. announced hopes to build a movie theater at the site shortly after Malco Theatres Inc. announced it would move forward on plans for a cinema at a different location.
Residents will have the opportunity to express their concerns and desires again at the Board of Aldermen meeting next week.
