SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — Southaven has increased the deposit fee for residential and commercial water connections to make sure the city recoups its money if a resident or a business does not pay their bill.
The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/TOrAPL ) the board of aldermen unanimously approved a resolution this week that increases the water service deposit fee from $50 to $125 for residential connections. Commercial deposit fees will be $200.
The utility policy change also now states that with rental property, the water bills may be in the property owner's name or the renter's name. The fee change goes into effect Feb. 18.
Also during the meeting, officials announced that residents can now pay their city water bills online at southaven.com.
