ROGERS, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - The Benton County Sheriff's Office says a man accused of shooting a Rogers police officer has been found dead.

Authorities say Cpl. Jeff Pollock was treated and released from the hospital early Wednesday morning after he was shot. Rogers police say Pollock approached a parked vehicle at about 2:30 a.m. at Lake Atalanta Park when he was shot in the torso.

Police say the shooter fled the park.

The sheriff's office says Madison County deputies found the suspected shooter at his girlfriend's home later Wednesday morning. Authorities say the man apparently shot himself after deputies asked him to get out of his car.

The man's name has not been released, and Rogers police plan a press conference for later Wednesday.
