NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - A proposal that seeks to crack down on the production and distribution of methamphetamine has advanced in the Senate.

The measure proposed by Republican Sen. Mae Beavers of Mt. Juliet was approved 32-0 on Wednesday. The companion bill has yet to move in the House.

The bill adds offenses - such as intent to manufacture and conspiracy - that could place an offender on the methamphetamine registry if convicted. Beavers says the offenses were left out of the bill last year.

The database will be maintained by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
