LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP, abc24.com) - Arkansas State Police has announced a new campaign to reduce drinking and driving by teenage motorists.
State police say the new enforcement operation will begin Friday and run through March 18. They'll again focus on teen drivers from April 13 to April 22. Authorities picked those dates to coincide with spring break, prom and graduation.
State police say that in 2010, 47 drivers under age 21 were involved in alcohol-related fatal crashes in Arkansas. Drivers under 21 in Arkansas can be arrested for driving under the influence if their blood alcohol concentration is between .02 and .07.
The legal limit in Arkansas for drivers above 21 is .08.
