MEMPHIS, TN -- Less than 24 hours after losing in his first singles match of the U.S. National Indoor Championships, John Isner pulled out of the doubles tournament citing a knee injury.

Isner, the No. 16 player in the world, was set to play Wednesday morning with his normal doubles partner and fellow American, Sam Querrey.

The No. 3 seed in the tournament was specifically asked by ABC 24 Sports if the bone bruise in his right knee from which he had been recovering was a factor in his loss Tuesday night to Denis Istomin (Uzbekistan), 6-4, 6-3. Isner replied, "No. No."

Isner said he was scheduled to play at Delray Beach International Tennis Championships next week, before heading to the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA and finally the Sony Open Tennis tournament in Miami.
