MEMPHIS, Tenn. (University of Memphis) – University of Memphis women’s soccer head coach Brooks Monaghan was honored as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Central Region Coach of the Year as announced Monday by the organization.

Monaghan guided the Lady Tigers to an undefeated regular season, and the U of M advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 12th-year head coach saw Memphis surge to a program-best No. 3 ranking in the national polls.

The Lady Tigers earned a fifth-straight Conference USA championship and claimed a third C-USA regular season title in 2011. Named the 2011 C-USA Coach of the Year, Monaghan helped Memphis to a 22-1-1 record and a 10-0-1 mark in league play. In front of record crowds, the Lady Tigers posted 11-1-1 mark on their home pitch.

Monaghan, a native of Memphis, picks up his fourth Coach of the Year honor and has a record of 147-86-15, including a 85-21-7 mark in the last four seasons. He was named C-USA and Soccer Buzz Central Region Coach of the Year in 2007 and adds the C-USA Coach of the Year and NSCAA Central Region Coach of the Year to the list this season.
