When purchasing tires, you will find there are many kinds and brands available. Various manufacturers offer tires in low, mid and premium grades and in a variety of sizes and weights. Referring to your owner's manual can help determine the proper tires for your car. With regular care, your tires can keep your car running safely longer. Inspect your tires often for correct air pressure, tread wear, wheel balancing and alignment. Rotate tires as front tires generally endure more wear than those in the rear. Avoid habits like sudden acceleration, quick braking, and speeding on rough or potholed pavement. When driving with tire chains, make sure they are installed properly, and use them as infrequently as possible. Also, check the spare tire occasionally for adequate air pressure.
