MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Two Team Taboo insiders are raising the curtain on Team Taboo, talking about the group and the sex video that sparked a major controversy.
"I was there," said Joe Gotti, a local filmmaker.
Gotti and his business partner, Nikon Nitty, have shot Team Taboo events before, but were not working the night caught on camera. That video was posted online, and has launched a controversy. In a week in a half, the clip has been viewed more than 1.1 million times.
The party was held at Club Elements in Hickory Hill, which has since been shut down.
"Now if they probably would have been outside in a park or something it would have been like shocking, but they was in the club," Gotti said.
Gotti says what you don't see in the video is that the club was only about a quarter full that night. He says the sex acts caught on camera were exclusively between members of Team Taboo, with others in the crowd paying a cover charge to watch.
"I am in there like this, I'm literally sitting there like this," said Gotti as he covered his face like he was embarrassed.
"Somebody is going to get half-way naked, any club any club in Memphis," he added.
The public display came as quite a shock to Nitty, who says he isn't from around here.
"From a male's stand-point, I was like wow, they actually do this in the club?"
A hearing on the Club Elements closure is set for Monday morning.
