Right now cars won't pass inspection if the glass is too dark. State troopers can issue tickets for that, and DeSoto lawmakers want to give sheriff's deputies the authority as well.

Its true that window tinting is helpful for anyone because it saves us from sunlight, but many can use its for many illegal issues, because if any window of any car or van is tinted, then due to darkness no one can see properly inside.

No wonder we can't seem to progress as a society. If people can't agree to enforce the most logical and simple rules, like this one, then we are surely doomed. Also, why am I not surprised that missy22 drives a rape-van?

I agree...if it's illegal for Joe Citizen then why should it not be illegal for the police..they can use all the reasons why they need it but none are legitimate..I own a state inspection station and have police officers all the time try to get stickers for their personal cars with too dark tint...BTW, every car made in the last 20 yrs has "solar ray" technology windows from the factory, which is about 70% tint on the meter.

I agree. Ban the tinted windows. Ban talking while holding a cell phone. Ban backing into parking spaces as well.

How about going back to the city of Southaven and asking why their patrol cars all have illegal tint? What possible excuse could they have for breaking the law: It's too hot? They're in their cars all shift? We don't want the public to see whats inside? These are all reasons that the taxpayers can use too! All their ILLEGAL tint does is hide the officers who spend their shift on the cell phone. On second thought - let them keep the tint. Their cell phone use has saved me from a dozen tickets.

Sounds reasonable to me but lets start with the cop cars first, make ALL of them legal then work on the public!
