JACKSON, TN (abc24.com) - One person was shot inside a Best Buy store in Jackson, Tennessee late Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4. When Jackson Police arrived on the scene, a man was seen pulling a woman with him in the parking lot and identified him as the gunman who fired shots inside the store.

An officer drew his weapon and ordered the suspect to stop; the suspect let the woman go and told the officer to go ahead and shoot him. An EMT came to assist the woman, who had been shot several times, once in the head. She was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where she was airlifted to The MED in Memphis in serious condition.

Meanwhile suspect refused to put down his weapon, and kept it pointed at his own head as he urged officers to shoot him. As a crowd started to gather around the scene an officer was able to come up behind the suspect unnoticed to deploy his taser, and the man was taken into custody.

Investigators learned that the 35-year-old victim and the 61-year-old suspect are engaged. They also noted the victim is not employed by Best Buy, but works for a company that sells merchandise inside the store.

Police later identified the suspect as Will Harry Lutter. He has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated domestic assault, especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault. The last charge stems from Lutter pointing a gun at a Best Buy employee while inside the store.
