MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Abc24.com is getting results for a Mid-South Marine injured in Afghanistan. Less than 24 hours after we reported about Corporal Christian Brown being mocked on an anti-military Facebook page, the page was taken down.

Abc24.com was the only station to report about the anti-military page that manipulated a picture of Munford Marine Corporal Christian Brown and the only station to contact Facebook on Brown's behalf. His mother, Lyn Braden-Reed was relieved when she spoke with abc24.com, "Thank you guys so much for getting the story aired because that's what made the difference quite obviously."

Braden-Reed was in much better spirits Thursday after an anti-military Facebook page that featured her son's photo was taken down. "(a friend of Christian's) just came in, and said 'The page is gone, the page is gone!' I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that's so great.'"

The page was called, "Soldiers are Murderous Rapists & They Deserve to Die." Two photos of Brown showed up on Sunday, one with him in Afghanistan with the American flag, the other at a medical center learning to walk again. The photo mocks Brown for his dedication to America even after the attack in Afghanistan that nearly took his life.

On Wednesday, Brown, who's still receiving treatment in Maryland, told us the page was extremely hurtful. "It does get hard," he says, "It's hard enough dealing with all the extra challenges I have already, much less someone trying to cut me down in the process."

Family and friends say they tried for days to get the photo removed. After abc24.com contacted Facebook about the page it took less than 24 hours for the photo to be removed and the page shut down. "It was a difficult situation to get around, and luckily when you guys took control of it, it went away," Braden-Reed tells abc24.com, "Hopefully it won't happen in the future and for goodness sakes I hope it never happens to anybody else either."

The photos were taken from Brown's Facebook support page. His mother discussed the idea of making the page private to keep this kind of thing from happening, but she says that defeats the whole purpose of a support page.

Sup guys! Just letting you know my new page is now up, containing the same picture of Cpl. Brown, plus a couple more that I made over the weekend. Freedom of speech works both ways! Not just in the favor of murderers. Your efforts are fruitless, you are obviously quite new to the internet and freedom of information.

I don't think if I were a reporter or a news outlet instead of just a blogger that I would exult in suppressing someone else's freedom of speech. Nanny-State fascism is on the rise....
