MEMPHIS, TN - A man has been arrested after being involved in a hit and run crash that killed a 4-year-old girl.
According to Memphis police, 32-year-old Darrian Eldridge was arrested on Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Police say the wreck happened around 7:15 p.m. near I-240 and South Parkway.
The investigation shows Eldridge was driving a large SUV at high-speed when he hit another car, causing it to swerve into a guardrail, roll over and eject a passenger from a window.
Eldridge then hit two other cars before fleeing the scene.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced a 4-year-old girl dead on the scene and a second passenger of the vehicle that rolled over, a 15-month-old boy, was taken to LeBonheur in non-critical condition.
No one in the other vehicles was injured.
Eldridge was found a short time after the accident and taken to The MED for injuries sustained in the crash.
Eldridge has been charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury and a variety of other charges, including vehicular assault.
