MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Governor Bill Haslam announced Wednesday nearly $1 million in job training grants to four Memphis companies.

The grants were awarded through the state's Incumbent Worker Training Program, administered by the Tennessee Department of Labor.

Smith & Nephew, Advanced Services, Inc. and Thyssenkrupp Elevator were each awarded $25,000; Dillard Door & Security, Inc. was awarded $15,000.

“If Tennessee is going to become the number one location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs, then we must offer a well-trained workforce to employers,” said Governor Haslam. “This kind of training grant not only helps educate workers, but also provides incentive to employers looking to relocate or expand in Tennessee.”

Rose Fabricating and Industrial Solutions LLC out of Covington in Tipton County was also awarded $4,485 through the program.
