Sad, Sad, Sad....Hostess will be missed!! RIP

Unions are job killers. Unions served a good purpose 100 years ago, but they became fat, corrupt, and lazy.

The snack giant endured $52 million in workers' comp claims in 2011, according to its bankruptcy filing this January. Hostess's 372 collective-bargaining agreements required the company to maintain 80 different health and benefit plans, 40 pension plans and mandated a $31 million increase in wages and health care and other benefits for 2012. Union work rules usually required cake and bread products to be delivered to a single retail location using two separate trucks. Drivers weren't allowed to load their own vehicles, and the workers who loaded bread weren't allowed to load cake. On most delivery routes, another "pull up" employee moved products from back rooms to shelves.

I'm surprised The Chosen One didn't seize the company and turn it over to the union, like he did GM.

Well,well,well, just think there goes 18,000 union dues down the drain. Now all these people can get on unemployment and the taxpayers can support them.These union leaders should be held liable for all these lost jobs and have to pay for their unemployment. Another thought we can always get our Twinkies from China or Vietnam ,they might be full of junk that can kill you ,but what the hell as long as we give our jobs and manufacturing to These countries so they can stay afloat just do it.I look for a lot more companies to close with the union backed by the communist regime in Washington to ask for more and more until these companies can't do business any more.If you were one of the strikers ask the union to help you with your thanksgiving and Christmas needs they should owe you something for sticking your neck out and getting it chopped off.

@grayserboi...did you know that this company had a union for more than forty years .? This company went bankrupt in 2004 and 2009...what happened then...market conditions did not support their business plans...how did Obama being in office influence anything that their new Money Managers decided..these were not people in the bakery business...they were in the Money business and decided that the company was worth more in liquidation than as an ongoing business....better idea for you would be to go back to playing with your little toy and stop trying to promulgate an opinion that requires that you articulate an accurate, INFORMED ,insightful idea. Just the same old drivel that points to your feelings of inadequacy. Do you really feel that it's dark at the end of the tunnel for you.? If nothing else get help at Lakeside...please
