MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - They have been teased, kidded and ridiculed, but it has not shaken the belief of one Memphis couple in the paranormal.

Now, that faith is leading them to Hollywood.

Steve Dacus went to school to become a minister, but when the house he purchased with his wife Mary turned out to be - in their words - haunted, it changed the course of their lives.

While trying to shine the light of the Lord on what they call "dark energy," Steve and Mary will soon be standing in the bright lights of Hollywood.

It was voices from out of nowhere that got Steve and Mary Dacus involved in paranormal investigations.

"We saw things, just unexplainable things, dark shadows down a hallway," said Mary.

Steve said, "We do not believe it is just a ghost hanging around the house, we believe it's a darker energy."

It's a darker energy that they say can turn warm rooms suddenly cold, making Steve's breath visible when it should not be.

Documenting and filming their paranormal findings attracted national attention. Steve and Mary will soon be flying to Hollywood to tape an episode of "My Ghost Story" for the Bio Channel.

"One of our stories caught their eye," Mary told abc24.com.

But, to this couple what they do is more than stories, it's a ministry.

"We get residential calls from people who need help," said Steve. "They got stuff going on in their houses and they're scared."

While investigating a house where a murder occurred, orbs of energy were clearly visible flying in all directions. That phenomenon can be observed on YouTube.

But, that's not all.

"I have literally been scratched, beat up, pushed and shoved," said Steve. "I've got pictures of marks across my back. A catholic priest locally, looked at the scratches and said they were demonic mocking of the Holy Trinity."

By telling their story to a national television audience, the paranormal investigators have a hope.

"I'm hoping," said Steve, "that maybe we can take the secular fear out of the paranormal and shine a light on our perspective."

That perspective, in any light, is spooky.

"What we found was absolutely horrifying," Mary said.

The Dacus's possess a wealth of fascinating paranormal stories, most send shivers down your spine.

After centuries, no one has been able to document existence of paranormal or supernatural entities to the point where we consider that reliable knowledge. However, our ideas about these topics and their popularity changes with the times. That should tell you something. These demons are our own creation.

More hocus pocus grandstanding and phony effects, just like the other so-called paranormal TV shows. Total fraud.
