MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis man will spend the rest of his life in prison after he was found guilty for beating a toddler to death with a shoe.
On Friday, December 7, a jury convicted Calvin Jones of First Degree Murder, Aggravated Child Abuse and Aggravated Child Neglect.
Two-year-old Saniiyah Kuykendall died in May 2010 after Jones hit her with the back of his hand and a shoe because she went to the bathroom on the floor.
The girl's mother, Anisha Alford, has also been charged in her daughter's death.
Cops say when she came home she went to sleep instead of helping Saniiyah; when she woke up, the little girl was dead.
Alford is expected to face a judge December 17.
