MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Two Memphis police officers are on routine leave after they fatally shot at a man in the Parkway Village area who they say pulled a gun on them.

The officers were called to the Windsor Place Apartments on a noise complaint just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, January 17. When they arrived they found a man slumped over inside his vehicle. As they approached the man to check on his condition, he looked up and pointed his gun at the officers. The officers fired their weapons, hitting the man.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead on the scene. His identity has not been released.

The two officers involved have been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. Their names will not be released by MPD until after they've been fully debriefed.
