MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A north Memphis man pleaded guilty to raping his 11-year-old cousin in 2010.
Appearing in court on Tuesday, July 10, 20-year-old Courtney Perry agreed to a 25-year sentence without the possibility of parole as part of his guilty plea.
The little girl told her mother that Perry had raped her the day after the incident in June 2010. When the mother confronted Perry, he fled before Memphis police arrived. A relative saw Perry boarding a MATA bus; police stopped the bus and took Perry into custody.
Sex Crime Bureau investigators confirmed that the child had injuries consistent with the reported crime.
In addition to the 25-year sentence, Courtney Perry will also undergo supervision for the rest of his life, and be required to register as a sex offender.
