MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The Memphis Police Department fired an officer Thursday for flashing his gun at a motorist during a road rage incident while off-duty.

According to an MPD spokesperson, Darrell Malone was fired for intimidation after Thursday's administrative hearing.

The incident occurred in October 2012 on Germantown Parkway. Michael Montgomery told ABC 24 he was cut off by two motorcycles while driving down the busy street. He said he told the guys on the motorcycles he would call police if they kept it up.

At that point Montgomery said one man, later identified as Malone, said he was a cop and showed a gun tucked into his waist. But, it didn't end there. Montgomery said later that night Malone called and threatened him.

Malone and the 911 dispatcher who gave him Montgomery's cell phone number were later suspended. Malone was later arrested and charged with harassment; he is due in court in April.

Frazerboi...did you read what KeyJen stated? The white officer who was speeding through traffic and killed innocent people was fired but never charged with manslaughter. Please shut up with all the racial crap. Everyone is tired of it.

That boy, Malone, needs to cool his heels for a while at the Penile Farm. If he had been white and the motorist a colored man, he would be charged with a hate crime & the esteemed "leaders" would be howling from the rooftops. Why the double standard?

Wow! Fired and charged....okay what happened to the officer that caused a fatal accident that killed two. He was terminated but never charged....crazy, I don't condone this guys actions, because he should be terminated, but I do believe in fairness.........just my opinion.
