Memphis Officers Told to Issue More Traffic Tickets

Memphis police officers say they've been told to write more tickets or else. More than 20,000 traffic tickets were given out over the span of three months late last year.

You know what they say. Never believe anything in the paper until it has been officially denied. Thanks Tony for that. If writing tickets is the key to better arrests then ok. Why don't we just issue warning tickets? Same opportunity to have better arrests. ahhhh no REVENUE comes in. My bad.

I hate to agree with Frayserboi on anything. However, the government of Memphis continues to run off its tax base and those left here are punished with higher taxes to support the majority who contribute nothing.

Yes and we all believe that as the fiscal year winds down that there is not a rise in the amount of traffic stops. I fully support the MPD but come on now who is trying to snow who?

They have to make up lost revenue somewhere. Corporations and intelligent citizens are fleeing Memphis like rats off a sinking ship. Meanwhile, clueless politicians such as Janis Fullilove and Walter Bailey are arguing over an historic park. Memphis is the best thing that ever happened to DeSoto, tipton & surrounding counties.
