Tigers Season Comes To An End, Rebels Win

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Terrico White scored 21 points and sparked a decisive second-half run and Mississippi defeated Memphis 90-81 in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on Friday night.

Leading 50-47, Ole Miss went on a 14-4 run to take a 64-51 lead with 7:23 left. White had six points, an assist and capped the spurt with a dunk.

Memphis (24-10) never got closer than six points again.

The Rebels (23-10), who will host the Texas Tech-Jacksonville winner in the quarterfinals, had five players score in double figures. Zach Graham scored 19 points, Chris Warren had 16, Murphy Holloway had 11 and Trevor Gaskins added 10.

Memphis was led by Angel Garcia with 17 points while Will Coleman added 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Wesley Witherspoon scored 13 points, Doneal Mack had 12 and Elliot Williams added 11.

Ole Miss led 37-33 at halftime.

Get rid of the 'Pool Boy' as the coach and they might have gone farther. They need a coach with more experience than one who was trained by a criminal. period.

Home court advantage is huge in the NIT format. I'd venture to predict that Memphis would have won by the same margin at FedEx Forum. Both teams are to be congratulated on successful seasons and a competitive, well played game. I usually pull for both of these teams, so it was fun watching both play so well.
