DYERSBURG, TN (abc24.com) - A 62-year-old Dyersburg man is in hot water, after he called 911 to report he had just been robbed. The problem? Police say he wasn't so innocent himself.
"It is not a real bad neighborhood, I'm sure things happen," said Michelle Patrick, as she scanned the alleged crime scene.
Police say the man called 911 to report he paid a 31-year-old prostitute $40 for sex, only to have her take the money and run.
"So he called police to report it? Ok." Patrick said, as she let out a hard laugh.
Police say the man wanted what he paid for or his money back. Instead, he got a citation for soliciting a prostitute.
"I see this, but I don't believe this," said Annie Pierce, as she scanned the crime report.
"I think it is funny that he called 911 for something like that," Patrick said.
Police tracked down the woman, who told them she gave the money to another man.
The 62-year-old "victim" and the woman will see each other again. Both are due in court on Friday, July 20. The man was issued a citation for soliciting a prostitute. The woman was charged with prostitution.
"I don't have words to explain. It is just crazy," said Mike Pierce.
