MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis Police continue to investigate a dinnertime shootout outside a Frayser McDonald's. One robbery suspect is dead, another is being questioned, and as many as two more could be on the run.

"We had a bunch of women come over, from McDonald's, they said, 'We're being robbed,'" said Francis Freeman, who works next door.

Police say they got a call about a robbery in progress around 4:15 p.m. at McDonald's on the 2000-block of Frayser Blvd.

According to a police spokeswoman, when police arrived witnesses told them two armed suspects robbed the restaurant.

"You see the two guys running through there, and a police officer chasing them, and the next thing you hear what sounded like a 9mm go off and then a shotgun go off," said Freeman.

Police declined to release details of what happened that led the unidentified officer to shoot the suspect.

"It is always dangerous, because you don't know, violent felony in progress, a gun was used to rob the place, it was real dangerous," Memphis Police Colonel Frank Garrett said at the scene.

"We are a large metropolitan city, and we do have incidents such as these, officers react fall back on their training, do what they are taught, and the majority of the time we come out ahead," Garrett said.

Police detained a man near the scene, and were questioning him to see if he was involved. Police say they're also looking for a woman who fled the scene in a brown Ford Taurus as police arrived. They think she may have been the get-away driver.

finally a good ending to a story like this. the only way to make it better is if all of the suspects had been shot and killed. oh well maybe next time.
