MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police have arrested a suspect for an early Monday morning shooting outside a nightclub that left two people dead and a third person critically injured.
Police were called to the Level II Club at 5020 American Way around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 22. When they arrived, witnessed told officers that several people were leaving the club when an unknown suspect or suspects pulled up and opened fire on their car. The driver and two passengers were shot; a fourth person in the vehicle moved the injured driver to the backseat and drove to a gas station at Park Avenue and Mt. Moriah and called for help.
When paramedics arrived they pronounced the driver, 20-year-old Derrick Lane, dead on the scene. Two passengers were transported to The MED; 20-year-old Cameron Merritt later died and a 19-year-old victim was transported in critical condition but has since been released.
Investigators later identified 19-year-old Darrius Robertson as the shooter. Robertson is charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail.
No other arrests have been made in this case, but police say the investigation is ongoing.
