MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a man in Orange Mound area in a botched robbery attempt, and a second suspect remains at large.

The shooting occurred at a home on the 1400-block of Jeannine around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, November 30. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 38-year-old Derrell Bell dead on the scene from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say Bell and his brother were sitting in the driveway when they were approached by two armed suspects. They tried to force the two victims into the home; when the victims refused, Bell was shot.

On Monday, December 3, police arrested 19-year-old Stevie Brown and charged him with First Degree Murder in Perpetration of a Robbery. He is being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court December 11.

The second suspect remains at large. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274). You can also submit your tip at 528cash.org, or text the word AWARD to 274637 (CRIMES). You will remain anonymous, and you could be eligible to receive a cash reward.
