writghiswright, NO we do not need an income tax. That is LAST thing we need. If you want to pay an income tax, move across the state line to Mississippi. The lack of an income tax is one of the things that keeps every remaining tax payer in this city from leaving for DeSoto county.

"even if the money goes to education" ? Ha!! That was the PROBLEM. Memphians are smart enough to know that throwing more money into the schools here is not going to do a thing. They know it will be wasted.

we need a state income tax just like desoto tax all people that live in memphis that work there.Memphis has to many people that dont live here but work here. I wish we would tax them and not raise my county and city property taxes

Its an easy fix we elect alot of dumb people.WE NEED A STATE INCOME TAX BAD IN MEMPHIS FACE IT PEOPLE WE NEED IT.That the only we can collect from nonmemphis who work here.

Looking for money for education. Look no further trying cutting all County and City holiday pay. 6 holidays are enough . Veterans Day they all get off with pay really!!! Someone needs to look into the money that would be saved if all county and city holidays are cut back to 6 a year.
