MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A call to police by a watchful neighbor landed a woman in jail after she was caught stealing from mailboxes in an east Memphis neighborhood early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in a red vehicle going through mailboxes in the area of Shady Glen Road near Walnut Grove and South Yates around 3 a.m. on Sunday, September 9.
Police quickly located 32-year-old Kimberly Clark nearby in a red Camaro and saw a large amount of mail, debit/credit cards and checks with several different names in the front floorboard. Officers also found a fake Tennessee driver's license with someone else's information and Clark's photo, as well as another stolen driver's license. Clark told officers she had heroin and a snorting straw in the center console. They confiscated the heroin and paraphernalia and 89 prescription medication pills.
Kimberly Clark was arrested and charged with Identity Theft, Forgery, Possession of a Drug without a Prescription, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $30,000 bond.
