MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say one person is dead after a small plane crashed in Fayette County in West Tennessee.

Fayette County Sheriff's Office spokesman Ray Garcia said the single engine plane had one person aboard when it crashed Wednesday near Moscow.

Garcia said the person was killed in the crash.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the Cirrus SR 20 aircraft crashed shortly before 9 a.m. in a field.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash. Bergen says the FAA will send aviation safety inspectors to the scene.
