MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A 10-year-old Whitehaven boy is a hero after he pulled his sister from the clutches of a strange man trying to snatch her.
"The man came to me, and he grabbed my hand and he said he loved me," 6-year-old Terrincy Butler tells abc24.com.
Butler says she and her brothers, Jai'von and Jamar Simpson, were getting off their school bus around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, when the man approached them in the 4500 block of Millstream, just off Millbranch north of East Shelby Drive.
Jai'von says the man grabbed his sister's wrist, and then her hand as he tried to lure her away. Jai'von says he then grabbed Terrincy's free arm and yanked her. He admitted to being scared, but says he was prepared.
"I thought he was going to take my sister and I was going to have to fight back," he says.
Memphis Police rushed to the scene and arrested 61-year-old William Moore, not far from where the abduction attempt happened. He now faces especially aggravated kidnapping charges.
"I watch it all the time on television, and pray for them people, but never would of thought someone would actually mess with my daughter," Rene Guy, the children's mother, tells abc24.com.
Jai'von says he's heard of the man harassing other children, so he's glad Moore is in jail.
