Memphis, TN (abc24.com) - Shelby County Deputies arrested a 12-year-old boy for threatening one of his classmates with a shotgun, while waiting for the school bus.

According to the affidavit, the victim was joking with other children at the bus stop when the suspect got upset. He went inside his house and came out with a shotgun and pointed it at the victim.

When the bus arrived the suspect put the gun back in the house.

The kids got on the bus and headed to Woodstock Middle School. When they got there, the suspect was questioned by school officers and taken into custody by deputies.

The boy is charged with one count of aggravated assault.

Though this particular article doesn't give too many facts, perhaps those who have commented so far should re-read every word of the article more closely in order to determine what really happened- and what the real issue is here.

Kids cannot buy guns. Their parents can. Arrest them and charge them. The parental irresponsibility and certain degree of moral bankruptcy are the prime reason of teenage gun violence in this city. If this doesn’t stop any time soon, there might be no one left to write a eulogy – the thin layer of culture still remaining will quickly dissipate and move out to a safer towns (who wants to see their kids growing up amidst such crime or even worse, become a culprit or a victim of?), and the rest will be left to cannibalize themselves and those poor naive and shortsighted souls still living in this town. This is all the product of a total government failure to educate and organize society in a caring, civil way. Rome falls nine times an hour, you just have to pay attention to see it.

I don't mean to be combative, but, if this is typical Memphis brat behavior, why is it newsworthy?

Another prime example of GUN safety. The parents should be charged as well, they're just as irresponsible as the children they so call raise !!
