An arrest has been made in the murder of Police Lt. Ed Vidulich.  Vidulich was found shot to death in his Frayser home Monday, January 28th.  18 year-old Dexter Cox has been charged with first degree murder.  According to a Police Affidavit, Cox confessed to shooting Vidulich, taking his gun and his Ford Explorer - then setting the SUV on fire.

Another affidavit says Cox was arrested Wednesday, January 30, 2008, in connection to a shooting outside Frayser High School.  Police found him, searched a nearby home and found a gun they say was stolen from the Officer's home.  Investigators then realized they had their guy.

Mack McKinna has some harsh words for Cox, calling him "a little 18 year-old punk, who killed a good policeman."  McKinna, and other neighbors are happy to hear an arrest has been made.

The crime scene tape is still outside Vidulich's home.  Since Monday, there has been a constant police presence.  The CSI Command Post and squad cars are still across the street from the home.

Neighbors say they are relieved that an arrest has been made, but they also say this isn't over.  Neighbor Archie Collins says a conviction or more arrests would add closure.  Collins also says he'll be content when he hears "in detail, what happened in the death of Ed Vidulich."  Collins has many questions for officers including, "why his (Vidulich) particular house?

A News Conference will take place, Sunday, February 3rd, at 3:00 p.m.

Police records show this isn't Cox's first run in with the law.  In July of 2007, he was arrested for Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest.

I lived in Frayser for 30 some odd years. I'm suprised I made it out alive. I knew Big Ed and he deserved much better than to be shot in the face by some young punk kid tring to be a "G" and get into a gang but then again nothing suprises me in "willie world" Kids in Memphis have no respect for anyone or any thing because they learn it at home from their parents and from society. Displine is gone because of fear of being thrown in jail for child abuse or they just dont care, just like society, and when the kids turn out being murderers who do you blame then? The parents, the kid or society?

I still say he didn't act alone. I feel sorry for his mom. Sometime parents let their children have too much freedom. An eightteen year old should be in the house at a certain time of night. When our children get a certain age;we should still have family outting with them . I still have family outting with my 16 and 21 year old. The message I send out to parents never give up on your kids. No matter what you go thru, don't give on them. Sometime if you do they turn to the streets. That is when it is hard to reach them.

First, how did I butcher the English language? Second,What in the world did I say anything about the First Amendment? Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. I sure can't see that I argued against beautiful word such as that.I have a question for you,It's a grand thing that you would stand BEHIND the Constitution, but, would you stand in front of the constitution with a firearm and protect it with your life?

It is truly a sad case when individuals can butcher the English language and give reason to argue against our right to uphold the First Amendment with such ignorance in the workings of humanity. It astounds me that such an individual keeps current on such events when he shows no other desire to educate himself on neither the nature of ethics nor the workings of society and mankind what so ever. You speak of tolerance and you are ABSOLELUTELY right, tolerance is what has gotten us "here". "Here" being that great place where people like yourself have fooled themselves into thinking the issue is merely that of race. Tolerance has gotten many to this place but acceptance is where we need to be in order to address real issues. Acceptance of our situation be it with regards to race, or vices that drive us all to do what some call evil things, but to call something a "B on W Alert", portrays all that is wrong with this city and county. You are no more righteous with your words than said criminals are with their actions. As to your question of will it take the murder of your own, sir I have lost one of my own and the killer STILL walks amongst us after eight years but I have never been so brazen as to assume that the culprits be black, and praise be if this person is ever brought to justice and takes the form of a person of color, I will not hold that against all people of color because each person is a character of their own choosing not what one entity should choose for them. I believe you find comfort in your freedom to write hatred behind the safest of covers, but dear Mrwhitey you are by far a wolf in the tackiest of sheep’s’ attire. In closing, if by chance I did not feel more pity for you then anything, I might be ashamed that I am a member of your race because for you I do not hold pride. Sometimes people are not who you believe them to be but merely that of circumstance and society, you, the Lt. Vidulich, and this young man may all be such a case

B on W Alert. I know I'm off topic, but theres much more important things going on besides NBA basketball and that damn Bass Pro Shop. Alright, twice this week there were arrest in the grand ole Memphis. Crime 1,Six juveniles with SHOTGUNS robbed people in the Rhodes College area. Granted,All have been arrested. Crime 2,There has been a confession to the murder of Lt. Ed Vidulich. Both of these were black on white crime. I have to ask once again the good folk of Shelby County. How much more are you going to take? How much more tolerant are you willing to be? You see people, this is what all the tolerance has gotten us. Can you not see all thIS tolerance isn't working? Are you going to have to lose a loved one before you finally GET IT? Several hard working people have lost money A beloved M.P.D. officer is dead, all in the name of tolerance. It's not a sin to get your fill.Nor a sin to have guts and backbone to protect whats yours AT ALL COST! Tolerance. It's a bit overrated, don't you think?
